Oikos Household of Faith is a registered faith based organization that was founded in 1999 to respond the need of those affected and left vulnerable by HIV\AIDS. We currently support 100 orphans and vulnerable children in Oyugis , Homa-bay county. We chose to work in Oyugis because it was the hardest hit locality due to its poverty level.

We work in partnership with a self help group called “we wati” comprising of guardians act as surrogate parent to the orphan in our programme.

Our mission

To mobilize an effective community response to improve the improve the quality of life of children affected by HIV/AIDS in Kenya; strengthen and build on community capacities to respond and engage all stakeholders through sharing of better practices.

Assist communities develop their capacity to have an increased control over the environment using a livelihood approach.

How we work

We focus on the poorest of the AIDS orphan. Our attention is given to those in a desperately needy condition. Our goal is to help the whole family. Children need to a decent shelter, nutritious food, medicines, clothes, an education and need loving care.

We teach families to be independent.

We don’t want to create dependency on anyone but God, so our project has clear beginning and ending date. Families usually become independent of Oikos Household of Faith’s leadership within two years.

We support the local church’s initiatives.

Our project is designed to strengthen churches already in areas where we are working. We form partnership with churches and ministries that know how t0 share the gospel and care for the needy.

We are committed to evangelism.

Our entire project places an emphasis on sharing faith in Jesus Christ. We do not discriminate against those pf other faith, all are welcomed to the help we offer, but they know why we have come and are glad we cared to share our help.
